YOUTH HUNTER EDUCATION AND FIREARMS SAFETY HYBRID CLASS
The Chisholm Sportsman’s Club, in cooperation with local Minnesota DNR firearms instructors,
will host a Hybrid Youth Hunter Education and Firearms Safety Course beginning April 30, 2026,
with a required field day to follow on May 2, 2026. Successful completion of both portions will
qualify students to receive their Minnesota DNR Firearms Safety Certificate.
The course is divided into two parts:
Part 1: Classroom Session
April 30, 2026 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: Chisholm Public Safety Building – 201 4 th Ave SE
This 3-hour session includes classroom instruction, a written test, and a dry-fire simulation
exercise.
Part 2: Field Day Training
May 2, 2026 | 9:00 AM – approximately 2:30 PM
Location: Chisholm Sportsman’s Club (north of Chisholm on E. Hannon Road)
Students will participate in hands-on, “in-the-field” training.
Prerequisites:
All students must complete the ONLINE training through the Minnesota DNR website
(www.dnr.state.mn.us, under the Education/Safety section) prior to attending the classroom
session. Students are required to bring their DNR voucher of completion to the April 30 class.
Additional Information:
A parent or guardian must be present during classroom registration.
Students must be at least 11 years old at the time of the class.
Enrollment is limited to the first 20 students.
Preference will be given to Chisholm students until April 1; after that date, registration will open to students statewide.
The course is free of charge, except for any fees associated with the DNR online training.
